Circles & Groups

Circles

Circles are private feeds that you can create for yourself in order to follow content from multiple specific friendships. You might create circles such as "Coworkers" "High School Friends" or "Family" to follow content from a circle of people you know. Users are not notified when you add them to a circle and your circles can't be seen by anyone else. Circles allow you to both see content from specific friends and also share content with them only.

You are able to use circles like channels, allowing you to see posts only by a select set of your friends. You are also able to post to your circles, meaning only the members of that circle will be able to see the post; people in the circle will not be aware the content is only available to their circle and the post will appear like any other post from their perspective, though it will not be viewable by anyone not in the circle.

Groups

Groups are private feeds you can create for you and your friends which allow only members of that group access to the content contained within.  In order to add someone to a group, the creator of the group must send you an invitation.

In a group, you can:

Post directly to the group feed for members to see
Participate in the group chatroom
Create and host events
